What to Eat in Medan ?

Horas Medan! Last week my boyfriend came to visit me in Medan. LDR is difficult, but it feels very exciting when we meet again. It taste like a shot of espresso meet an avocado. Talk about food, this time cheesy baby will tell you about culinary experience in Medan. Some are recommended and some are not. One full week with Medan food and cheesy baby. This time cheesy baby will tell you more about the taste of different foods in Medan which is fascinating ! So today we will not tell you about how delicious are Tabona or how yummy is Kwetiau Ateng because it has been very often discussed by other bloggers. So check this out :

1. KERANG REBUS/BOILED COCKLES (★★★☆☆)
Chandra : Cant tell you how delicious it is just try it babe..
Cindy     : I don't think I can eat this..
Chandra : haiyaa.. whatever.. (continue enjoy his food)
*Seriously Cindy did not enjoy this food, but Chandra keep mention this is really delicious and the sauce also very well blend with the cockles he said. And not to forget, one day after he eat this we come again and he order the exactly the same one like this. 

Where : This stall is at Bundaran Cemara Asri (Orange coloured stall) named "Billy Kerang Rebus", Jalan Cemara Boulevard. Open Daily, 6 - 10 PM.

2. IFUMIE GORENG (★★★☆☆)
Cindy     : Let me try it 
Chandra : Nothing special right ?
Cindy     : No lah, its kinda delicious for a simple fried noodles. For me this is really the best ifumie goreng!
*Later on tomorrow we came again and bought one for his lil sister. HAHA 

 Where : This stall is at Bundaran Cemara Asri infront of "Billy Kerang Rebus", Jalan Cemara Boulevard. Open Daily, 6 - 10 PM.

3. NASI TIM AYAM (★★☆☆☆)
Well I guessed this food is standard, for me is like pretty standard Nasi Tim Ayam.

4. WANTAN MEE KALIMANTAN MAS (★★★★☆)

To be honest, this is the first time I had this Wantan Mee from Kalimantan Mas, but it is really good. The noodles are springy and do not clump. The soup taste good too but I think it would be even better if the noodles are thinner and flattened, but for Chandra he likes springy noodle, we are completely opposite when coming to noodles. HAHA

5. BIHUN BEBEK GANDHI (★★★★☆)
This is Bihun Bebek that only available on Jalan Gandhi. The meat selection is flexible, you can either choose Chicken meat or Duck Meat because some people do not like duck meat. Bihun bebek is very suitable to eat for breakfast. Keep in mind during the weekend, this place is always crowded.

6. ONDO GRILL BATAK (★★★★☆)
Ondo restaurant serves a lot of varieties of Batak food, feels like heaven to be here. Grilled pork, fried pork, Saksang. All super tender and well prepared. The place also super clean the only disappointment is the food is a bit too salty. But overall everything was great in here. They serve complimentary Watermelon for dessert and a small Cold Ginger Tea.

7. 31 PARE HOUSE (★★★★★)



This is the first time my boyfriend and I tried to dine at this place, and everything in here is super duper delicious I guessed. Especially the Udang Sambel Pete, the shrimp is super juicy the sauce also match well with the pete. Pare Nyonya soup also taste amazing !! About the price ? I guess it's not that expensive as it may look. We would come again to this place to satisfy our stomach.

8. HAKATA IKKOUSHA MEDAN (★★★★★)
If you are a fan of Japanese culinary, Ikkousha is a must visit place for you in Medan. It has several menu to choose. They don't only serve ramen but also rice and even Japanese dumplings. The price are so-so (standard price for a Japanese delicacy). But the food is not suitable for Moslems because there are menu with porks, although they also do serve menu with chicken. Never get bored by the rich taste of the broth and the cutlets of the pork/chicken on the plate, and I always finish it super clean (not a single thing left on plate).

9. SATE BABI SELAT PANJANG (★★★★★)
Eat this sate babi will make you feel addicted, seriously the satay is really good and the lontong also going well with the sauce. Not too spicy and you can put cabe ijo on it but its optional.

10. NASI PADANG UDA SAYANG (★★★★☆)
"Nasi padang.... nasi padannggggggggg............nasi padannnggg" ♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫♪♫
 I still remember the first time i tasted you its to good to be true.. Well yeah lets introduce this super yummy Nasi Padang that makes Cindy addicted the most, the smells too good to be true and suddenly make you hungry and want it even more.
But yeahh I think for nasi padang with fried chicken  and perkedel is too expensive in here but the price really worth it, and the next day we use Gojek to order it again.

PRICE    : with chicken (Rp.25.000) with chicken and perkedel (Rp.35.000)

We didn't get to try all the recommended places by people and there were some places that we tried that really wasn't good and we didn't feel like putting it on the list :)
